Dr Matt Giles is a GP and a Sport and Exercise medicine doctor based in South Wales. After completing his medical degree, he went on to complete a MPhil degree studying tendon injuries in athletes. After qualifying as a GP, he then went on to complete his post-graduate diploma in sports and exercise medicine.
Since qualifying as a doctor, Dr Giles has been heavily involved in the care of both amateur and professional athletes. He has previously worked with the Scarlets and Dragons rugby teams, and is currently lead physician to the Cardiff Blues and Wales Women's rugby teams.
He combines this with his love for football and is currently team physician to the Wales U21 men's football and senior futsal teams. One of the highlights of his career to date is being physician to Team Wales at the Commonwealth Games 2018.
Dr Giles has a keen interest in the prevention and management of tendon injuries in athletes and the exercising population. He is passionate about exercise prescription and enjoys the challenge of managing barriers which may prevent individuals from exercising.
